How do I get VHS tapes onto my computer so I can then copy it onto DVD?

VHS is being taken over by the digital world and the world of DVD. Many manufacturers no longer produce VHS tapes or players which is causing problems to many. What if you want to keep your old recordings or home videos for the future? Converting them to DVD is likely to be your best bet. macclean water softener directions

First of all you will need either a Video Capture Card or an External Video Capture device. The Video Capture Card is the more expensive of the two and usually gives better quality copying from the video onto your hard drive.

The Video Capture Card will convert the video to digital therefore allowing you to view it from your PC and then copy it onto DVD.

Probably the best bet would be the External Video Capture device as this simply goes between the video player and the PC and connects to the PC via one of your USB ports. Therefore it is much easier to install and use because you do not need to remove the case from your machine to install a card. They also work out cheaper in most cases.

Another thing you will require is Video Editing Software to edit the analogue video recording you have copied onto your machine and then to burn it onto a DVD. The software will also allow you to improve the quality of the recording before you burn it onto a DVD.

When you are buying the software make sure you shop around like you would with any other product. Different software has different features and also very different pricing.
